Manjushri
  image/artwork: Manjushri

Manjushri (Tib. Jampalyang) is the bodhisattva embodying the knowledge and infinite wisdom of all the buddhas.  He is traditionally depicted wielding a flaming sword of wisdom that cuts through ignorance and misperceptions.  His other hand holds the stem of a lotus flower on which rests a volume of the Perfection of Wisdom sutras.  This teaching by the Buddha on the ultimate nature of reality is testament to Manjushri's penetrative insight.  There is a practice of reciting Manjushri's mantra first thing in the morning, repeating over and over the seed-syllable DHIH that is the essence of his perfectly pure mind.
