Saturday, April 21, 2007, 10am - 4pmGSL CentreA summary of the explanation of the teachings, taken from "The Way of Awakening: A Commentary on Shantideva's BODHICHARYAVATARA", is as follows: ”If we wish to enter the Mahayana path, whether through sutra or tantra practices, we must develop the mind of awakening, bodhichitta. This is the only gate of access. We all know that generating bodhichitta is not easy, but to be able to appreciate and rejoice in such a mind we must first understand what it is - only then will we gradually create the conditions for its development. Furthermore, we need to increase our positive karma and eliminate our negative karma. When we invite an honored guest, we adorn and clean our homes first. If we wish to generate bodhicitta in our minds, we must first purify and beautify them. The second chapter of Shantideva's text discusses refuge, the purification of negative karma, and the acknowledgment of negativity - hence the title. We must acknowledge our negative karma before we will be able to purify it...." A very worthwhile teaching! We are now taking registrations. Please note that space is limited.
